Combinations with Calvados
When making cocktails it is better not to use old calvados; de specific characteristics will be easily lost. Rather use a spirit in which de scent and the taste of the apple stand out most.
Because calvados has a strong aroma, it is crucial to pay attention when making calvados cocktails. The best creations are made with one of the following principle ingredients: sour fruit juices (lemon or grapefruit), cider of course, and, quite surprising: vermouth!
As decoration a slice of apple is usually the most suitable. But apples can change color rather quickly. To prevent this you can sprinkle the slice of apple with some lemon first.
