Why it’s Important to Remove Ear Wax

Ear wax, also known as the medical name cerumen, is usually a light to golden yellow, brown, red or grey waxy substance secreted by the ear drum of animals and humans

It aids in protecting the inner ear of the ears, helps in cleansing and lubrication, and offers protection against dust, bacteria, fungus and water. In addition to these benefits, ear wax also helps in protecting the ear from potential damage that may be caused by the loud noise of cars or other loud noises.

However, despite its usefulness, the protective properties of earwax can be severely impaired due to factors such as excessive earwax production or poor oral hygiene. In addition, certain health conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, can also cause earwax to build up, which can become a serious obstacle to the passage of the bony labyrinth or cranial cavity.

Although earwax build-up is usually harmless and reversible, there are times when it becomes a problem, resulting in a blockage in the ear duct or the passage of wax into the cochlea. Not only is a blockage of the ear a serious condition, but it can also lead to hearing loss, so it is important to address the problem as soon as possible.

As mentioned, earwax acts as a lubricant for the inner ear. If the excess earwax is not removed properly, it can cause permanent damage to the inner ear. This will lead to decreased visual acuity and sensitivity, especially when it comes to hearing. It can also cause permanent damage to the soft tissue and muscle structures of the inner ear, causing tinnitus.

Since earwax build-up can cause hearing loss, it is very important to eliminate earwax build-up as soon as possible to prevent further damage to the inner ear. But if the earwax build-up is too high or does not respond to treatment, it is best to consult a doctor to determine the best course of action.

The most common method for removing excess earwax is with a simple earlobe remover or cotton swab. For more persistent earwax build-up, you may also need to try ear drops containing sodium hyaluronate to temporarily loosen the wax. The procedure can be done at home using a small amount of ear drops and a small cotton swab containing mild antibacterial.

To do this, simply dip the swab in a small amount of antibacterial solution and then insert the swab into the ear and hold it there for a few seconds. If it does not loosen the ear wax, repeat the process with a new cotton swab.

The swab should be dipped into the antibacterial solution repeatedly until the cotton swab loosens the wax sufficiently. After the swab is sufficiently loosened, the swab must be rinsed and the solution drained off with clean water.

In addition to temporary relief from the discomfort of ear wax, there are several advantages to this treatment. One is the temporary removal of any foreign objects that might have been stuck in the ear.

Another advantage of temporary or home remedies is the cost and the fact that it can be performed in the comfort of your own home. You don't have to make a trip to the doctor's office or hospital in order to treat your wax build up. Additionally, there is no risk of an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients in antiseptic ear drops.

Another advantage is that you do not need to wait for permanent relief to occur, which could take weeks or even months. or sometimes even years to achieve relief. Temporary relief of your hearing loss will be felt right away. Ear wax is known to clog the ears from time to time, so the removal process is not always instantaneous.

So now that you know why it is important to remove ear wax, why not look into a home remedy for temporary relief? If you're tired of the pain of earwax buildup and need immediate relief, you should try out one of the above tips.
